Break-in, noise, and dust
New rotors and pads require a controlled bedding cycle to form an even friction layer — skipping it is the most common cause of squeal and pulsation on otherwise good hardware. Carbon ceramic and performance compounds produce less dust than OEM semi-metallic pads on most platforms, but all pads generate some debris; wheel cleaning frequency drops dramatically with the right compound for your use case.
If you hear noise only when cold, verify pad shims, hardware, and hub cleanliness before assuming a “bad pad.” Most Ghost Brakes street compounds are engineered for quiet low-speed operation after proper bedding.
